Discussion
The single recognised fill was 012AD08491, a sandy
loam (Munsell colour 10YR 4/3), with 20% chalk inclusions (1-10cm in diameter).
Some charcoal but no daub flecking was noted. Animal bone finds are noted
in the context record, although they must have been only non-zoned material,
as they do not appear in the animal bone database. The section indicates
that a less stoney primary fill was present on the base, but this was not
noted during rapid excavation.
The pit was cut into natural sand and sand & gravel, with a V-shaped
profile.
