Discussion
This was a trowelled spit to further define the sequence of enclosure ditches
011BA07130.
The material removed was a sandy silty loam (Munsell colour 10YR 4/3) Further
definition of these ditches was required in the east (spits 011BA00103
and 011BA00128). Much of the area had
been disturbed by Medieval ridge and furrow ploughing. Finds included a
late Roman coin, some copper alloy wire, an iron heckle tooth, an iron
nail, and an Anglian bone needle. Charcoal flecking was quite common, although
no daub was noted.
