Discussion

This was a cleaning spit located in the north-eastern corner of the area. The material removed was a sandy loam (Munsell colour 10YR 3/3), and was separated from spit 011BE00110 to the south by a faint line of patchy sand and gravel natural. No real definition of features was achieved, although the first hint of daub was seen in the north-west (011BE00108). Finds of note include a 9th Century Middle Saxon styca (the second from the area).
