Discussion

This cleaning spit was located in the north-east of the area, just to the south of spit 011BE00109 (it was separated from this spit by a patchy line of sand and gravel natural). The material removed was a sandy loam (Munsell colour 10YR 3/3), a slightly darker material than that removed to the south (spit 011BE00111). Finds of note include a copper alloy Middle Saxon pin and a complete fired clay loomweight.
