Discussion

This was a quite large, rectangular spit, removing the last remnants of hillwash by brush from an area of chalk on the extreme west edge of 12AD. The material removed was a fine, sandy loam (Munsell 10YR 4/2). The area was badly plough truncated, and only a few shallow features were defined. These included a ditch (012AD05152), a remnant of ridge and furrow (012AD05150), and a group of three post holes.
