Discussion

This rectangular cleaning spit was excavated in order to remove a raised area left along the central-eastern edge of the area after the machine clearance. The geophysical survey had shown that the western side of an enclosure was present at this point. The spit defined three north-south aligned enclosure ditches (012AB00134, 012AB07192 and 012AB07195). Most of the finds were animal bones, clustering centrally in the excavated area. Of particular note was the find of a partial flint macehead.
