Discussion

This was the second spit (directly under 012AB00802) taken across the area which had previously been the baulk between areas 12AA and 12AB (removed by machine later in the 1995 excavation season). The spit was attempting to define the anomalies detected by the high resolution geophysical survey. It helped to define east-west enclosure ditches 012AB00815 and 012AD00822. Further definition of features was required in the southern half only (012AB00820). Only two animal bones were recovered.
