Discussion

This was a cleaning spit over the north-western quadrant of area 11BA. It covered areas of chalky gravel, mixed pink chalk, clay and stony chalk. The material removed was a sandy clay loam (Munsell colour 10YR 4/3). It helped to define a number of features, including two Grubenhäuser (011BA07011 and 011BA07012), a ditch (011BA10007), and five slots (011BA00135, 011BA00143, 011BA00164, 011BA00166 and 011BA00168). There were no finds.
