Discussion

This was a cleaning spit, trowelled back after machine stripping of the southern half of area 11BA. The material removed was a sandy silt (with patches of sandy loam), Munsell colour 10YR 4/3. Generally, further definition was required, apart from in the west, where the south-western arm of enclosure ditch 011BA07130, ditches 011BA00510 and 011BA00553 and Grubenhaus 011BA07005 were clearly defined. A high density of objects and animal bones were found, with an obvious cluster of animal bones above surface 011BA00367.
